Geesh. I think yesterday was worse than the day before…honest! I did manage to pour two pillars. Yup, two piddly Pillars. *lol* It was just too hot to be working with wax that needed to be 200F. I mean, the frozen molds that I use, were not frozen anymore by time I grabbed them out of the freezer and walked back to the dungeon!

Hurrican Earl is moving closer and I am hoping for some relief from it. They issued warnngs all along CT’s shoreline and said we may even get the high winds and some rain here in the northwest corner. All I can think is…”bring it!” If it means a cool of, I am all for it! If it does get bad I will hunker down with my babies , pop on the Asus laptop and watch some movies until it passes. Good thing I have two batteries for it and both are fully charged. One of these days we’ll have to invest in a generator. Especially in the winter time with the snow and ice stroms we get. They are expensive though!

Anywho, it’s 3 am and it’s wicked humid now. I hate this humidity we get right before a strom. It’s oppressive and just feels nasty. Gonna unmold my Pillars from yesterday and level them and then…who knows…I know it’s too warm and humid to pour more so I will have to wait until we cool off a bit.

The heat however did make a couple of my wax slab bow like a wilted flower! *rofl* I went to grab a slab to cut up for an order and there is was, all bend over, looking sad. I about died laughing. THAT never happened before and I found it to be quite amusing.

One more day of heat and humidity and then we’re in for the storm off Hurricane Earl. Bring it! If it drops the temps and brings us rain, let ‘er rip!

Even with the heat at 94F I have been slaving away in the dungeon. I have been pouring Pillar and Votive Candles like a maniac. I love pouring Pillars. I love how each is different and no two are the same. The wax I used gives a “mottled” effect when poured hot and a “rustic” effect when poured cool into frozen molds. I am like a giddy mad scientist in my dungeon! To think I almost gave up candle making! What was I thinking? I love making candles and had I quit …I’d be kicking my own butt right now! I have decided to focus more on candles. While I also enjoy making soap, it is not my “first love” – I like making candles way more. I want to grab a few books on different techniques, too. Like carved candles. OMG, they are so pretty! I am nuts, I know but it’s just that I am really interested in candle making and love to try everything at least once. The supplies alone would be killer and then where would I put all of the stuff? YIKES

I wish we had a bigger house. I am starting to run out of space again now. Insane, considering we have a 3 bedroom house! *lol*

Well, off I go to pour more! I’ll post some pics once I have the scents that I want to add to OPT poured

Haha, so much for pouring! Just when I have all supplies together and I am ready for some serious Pillar pouring – we get another heatwave! Starting tomorrow we’ll have 90+ temps for 4-5 days! Just figures, doesn’t it? *lol* They say low humidity but who knows. They always get it wrong anyway!

Guess I’ll have to wait it out and start my project after the heat makes like a bee and buzzes off!

Our neighbor drives me nuts as of late, too! bad enough he feels the need to weed whack at 8 am, play his music to the point of going deaf until 11 pm – now he brought an RV around and god only knows what his plans with that thing are. He has a huge garage which is situated right next to our property and him and his friends are in there banging around all day long, every day of the week! Our “office” is on that side of the house so it makes it hard at times to focus on my work with his music and banging. Now this RV that he brought around. I am almost 100% sure that him and his friends have rv repairs planned. They repair everything from cars to bikes so I wouldn’t be surprised if they tackled the RV as well. More power to them but if things get too loud they will have to deal with me because I am not putting up with it. I have to work. In peace!

What am I wishing for? lol

I wish I could take a vacation! Just a couple of days would be great. A weekend getaway. But with 6 pets, sadly that is not possible. Can’t take them all with us and can’t afford a petsitter on top of a vacation! I have seen a Branson vacation package that was quite affordable. Still, with the 6 pets – not an option. We haven’t had a vacation since we went to Disney World in 1998. The year we met. Insane! It would be great to get away for a bit. I could use it and I know hubby could use it as well.

Sometimes I wonder how in the heck we ended up with 6 pets? We had 2 when we moved up here from Florida. And over the years we just added on, I guess. lol

It’s getting a bit too much, to be honest. I love them all, don’t get me wrong but it’s too much.

So, I will continue to wish and hope and dream for a vacation. Europe sounds pretty damn good, too! I’ve seen quite a bit of western Europe when I was still living in Germany but I was a kid then. I’d love to see as an adult.

Finally…got them all filled! It’s been non stop since I reopened. Not that that is a bad thing, but on top of my other daily work load, it tends to get stressy. Now to clean up the dungeon and get it ready for the next round.

The weather has been a little better. Not as humid, and when it is humid it’s just for a day or so – nothing like last month where the humidity stuck around for days. Autumn is slowly but surely creeping in and I am loving every minute of it. I love the crisp morning and warm days.

Plus I can burn candles, melts tarts and test. In high humidity it’s just not doable…to me anyway…lol…because I don’t want to see candles burning when I am sweating like a pig!

I know, I know…it’s August! but I have been looking at goodies to add to this years wishlist. Since I have lost 40 lbs and plan on losing more and hoping to be back in a size 16/18 by Christmas, I am giving myself little “goals” – and one of them is to lose more, buy that pair of coogi rainbow stone jeans and look absolutely fabulous for the holidays!

I gained a lot of weight last year with that fractured ankle. I was overweight when it happened, and lugging that cast around for 9 weeks, then the cam walker for another 9 weeks and then the ankle brace for yet another 9 weeks…didn’t help matters much! But I am on my way. I have ways to go, no doubt, but I know I am getting to where I want to be. And that deserves a little treat, doesn’t it? I think so. My rewards will be clothes. *lol* I happen to like clothes. I happen to like shoes. I also happen to like purses. And Bling.

I am woman, after all!

I have decided that this years wishlist will be a little more about me instead of being a lot about my business. I have always asked for stuff/ bought stuff that I needed for my candle biz and this year I won’t. It’s time to focus more on me. I’ve let myself go for way too long. Stuck in a rut, losing myself somewhere along the way. If it comes off as selfish to others, so be it. Maybe it’s time I get a little selfish. For once. If I don’t take care of myself, who will?

I did it, I made it! *lol* I am finally open for business again! Mind you I still have to add a few things and pictures and as soon as this humidity breaks I have to get to soaping – but I opened my doors again! Feels great! I love it!

I already have a few orders in and will happily fill them starting today. Good timing too because hubby’s cell phone is on it’s last legs…again! That man goes through cell phones like there is no tomorrow. He went through 2 Kyocera’s in less than a year and this time I am going to read up on cell phone reviews before I purchase another for him. I, myself, use a LG Rumor 2 but it wouldn’t be a good phone for him. He needs a flip phone that he can easily carry in a holder on his side. A phone like the Rumor 2 would get ruined in a nanu second. Gonna have to be a sturdy flip for him and then of course cell phone accessories like a car charger and holder.

We have a drawer full of cell phones dating back to 2002 *lol* I think it’s to donate them. I think there is a service for soldiers that accepts used outdated cell phones, that hands them out to GI’s serving so that they can call home. I’ll have to look into it. I sure wouldn’t mind donating them and having my drawer back, knowing a GI can call home to his family.

I am not so sure! This wicked weather sure isn’t helping and not having a working whole house AC isn’t helping either.

I did finally get the big order in and today I will be listing the items on the new website but I have to wait for the permission to use their pics which can take anywhere from 5-7 days after they receive the signed media consent form. UGH

I will list them however and then add the pics as soon as I get the ok. Just having to wait another week or longer doesn’t help right now. I am almost 2 month behind schedule!
